There is currently a consultation under way on the Fire Service’s plans to reorganise fire stations in Warwickshire. The plans would see seven retained stations, including Warwick, close. Chris White is campaigning hard to prevent this from happening.
He says: “I believe that closing Warwick Fire Station would introduce an unacceptable level of risk to our communities and will be doing everything I can to campaign against the proposal. Having met on several occasions with our firefighters, and also representatives of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) and Retained Firefighters Union (RFU), I have been working with others to encourage residents to respond to the Fire Service’s consultation – and to let the Chief Fire Officer know that this is not what local people want.”
Residents can take part in the consultation online at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/fireandrescue before 8th December. There will also be a march on 6th December, starting at 11.30am at Warwick Racecourse (Hill Close Gardens end) and ending at Shire Hall, where Chris will be speaking. For more information on the march contact Karen Scarrott on 01926 492602.
