Our vision is to achieve social justice for all and a radical improvement in social mobility through the introduction of a range of policies that will rid us of the burdens the government has placed on us all. These include:

• Making British Poverty History. The Conservatives share the aspiration to halve child poverty by 2010 and eliminate it by 2020, but we need a new approach that tackles the underlying causes of poverty, not jut the symptoms. Our approach will take into account the importance of families, communities and incentives to work.
• Supporting families by ending the couple penalty in the tax credits system, which will lift 300,000 children out of poverty
• Welfare reform because we believe work is the best route out of poverty. In a responsible society, individuals who are capable of working accept their responsibility to work, and the government accepts its responsibility to help all those who can work get into work.
• A Rehabilitation Revolution in which we will fundamentally reform the prison service to end the devastating cycle of reoffending
• Increasing the number of health visitors to provide a universal health visiting service for all parents
• Reducing the gap between men’s and women’s pay by following a six-part plan that encompasses careers advice for young women, flexible working and pay objectivity.

We are extremely fortunate in Warwick and Leamington to live in an affluent area. But sill, many people struggle to find work, make ends meet, or improve the prospects of their children. Conservatives have always believed that everyone should have the opportunity to make the best they can of their life, and our policies are designed to ensure that good chances, and choices, are available to all.
